AIDCOC MET PARLIMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE ON CDA ON 12th Jan 2008 PDF Print E-mail

On the invitation of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the delegation led by Mr. Ravi Udaya Bhaskar, Secretary General AIDCOC, K Raja Bhanu, Secretary , AIDCOC, Mr. G. Dharmadata, Vice President, AIDCOC and Mr. M.Amrutha Rao, Acting President, Drugs inspectors Association of A.P. met the Parlimentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India at Hyderabad on 13th January, 2008 Reg. Drugs and Cosmetic Act (Amendment) of 2007 (CDA).

The Secretary General made a detailed oral presentation of the AIDCOC stand on CDA to the parlimentary Committee and why the AIDCOC opposing the CDA the Secretary General reiterated the stand of AIDCOC for strengthening of Drugs Control Organizations at Central and state level to curb the spurious drugs.

On 14th of January, the principal Secretary, Health, Government of A.P.Mr. L.V.Subrahmanyam and Sri R.P.Meena, Director General Drugs also opposed the Centralised Licensing system and supported the stand of AIDCOC. The Manufacturers Association of A.P. Indian Medical Association, A.P. Consumer Groups and Drug Traders also opposed the central Licensing System.

The consumer Representatives appreciated the stand of AIDCOC particularly suggestions made to curb the spurious drugs.
